A free-floating, entirely modular replacement forend for the AR-15 platform is the KAC URX III Rail. Instead of using the typically unused rail portions, as is the case with classic quad rail designs, the URX III incorporates small lengths of M1913 Picatinny rail at its front end for mounting accessories, reducing overall weight and improving grip. At the back of the rail, there is a QD sling swivel socket on either side allowing ambidextrous sling compatibility. Shooters can adapt the forend to their needs by adding KAC URX 3.1 Rail Panels and additional rail sections (both sold separately).

The rifle must have a low profile gas block and a pistol- or carbine-length gas system in order to use the URX III rail. Although it is suitable with mid-length gas systems, this arrangement will expose a small piece of the gas tube. It will be essential to remove the factory barrel nut and disassemble the gas system of the weapon. The KAC URX Barrel Nut Wrench MUST be used to install the forend’s specific barrel nut (PN: 20495, Sold Separately). Only for platforms based on the AR-15/SR-15; not compatible with SR-25 versions. Hardware, barrel nut, and installation instructions are all included.
